Getting Handsy? : Hand Creams for dry skin.

Hey Internet friends,

Dry hands can be a problem for a lot of people! You use your hands so so much and the skin on your hands can really suffer as a result.
In 2014 I was diagnosed with a small skin condition called contact dermatitis which isn’t a massive deal but can be fairly painful, the pain I can deal with, the horrid looking hands I could not!
Contact dermatitis is a type of eczema that causes the skin to become red, blistered, dry, scaly and cracked.
I was prescribed multiple creams and potions and lotions from the doctors and they all worked well enough but they took ages to dry and it just wasn’t an enjoyable experience for me.
I decided to go back to what I know best and thats cosmetics!
So in this post I want to talk to you about some FANTASTIC hand creams I have tried over the past year.

1. Body Shop Hemp Hand Cream

The product advertises itself as a hand protector to soften and protect hands, it is dermatologically tested for very dry skin and like all body shop products contains Community Trade hemp seed oil.

I probably wouldn’t call this product a cream as such, it is more of a blame due to its thick consistency. This product doesn’t dry fast but is worth the drying time!
My hands at there absolute worst felt so much softer and the pain was minimal whilst using this product.
I always repurchase this product but after using it three times a day it still lasted nearly the whole year which makes it fantastic value for money, retailing at £11 for 100ml!
The only downside to this is the smell, it can be a little overpowering and masculine for some people especially for a product for the hands.

2. Nivea Express Hydration Hand Lotion

This lotion considers itself to use natural sea minerals to hydrate and absorb instantly stating that with regular use the product supports the skins own moisture to keep hands hydrated after frequent washing.
Whilst this product is great for fast absorption and perfect for if your out and about it doesn’t do much for massively damaged skin. Its great for just dry hands and on a good day this light scent lotion makes my hands feel great!

3. Neutrogena Norwegian Formula Concentrated Hand Cream

neutragenaThis product uses a concentrated glycerin-enriched formula to provide relief for very dry hands, the fact it is concentrated means that you can get over 200 applications from a 50ml product which let me tell you, is impressive!
This product is super super effective on the worst day for both pain and dryness and is unscented meaning you can use it whenever without being put off by the smell. Another benefit from this product is that it instantly dries leaving a protective barrier on the skin leaving you protected for longer.
I personally feel that calling this product a cream isn’t accurate and I would call it more of a balm or protector.

4. Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Hand Cream

I am not going to be popular for my opinions about this cream. I bought it because I had heard SO MANY people rave about how amazing it was but unfortunately for very damaged hands it just didn’t live up to the hype.
The scent for this product uses eucalyptus and lavender and it truly does smell divine but I think it was these scents that irritated my skin unfortunately.
It did little for my dry skin, irritated my skin causing more pain!
I really wanted to LOVE this product especially with the price of £26 but I just

5. White Musk Moisturing Hand & Nail Cream

wmThis product promises “A light, sink-in sensual cream with a smooth-as-satin texture that glides over your skin, leaving it feeling velvety-soft to touch” and let me tell you that this isn’t too bold of a statement!
Since using this cream I have been blown away by how much better my hands are, it is a fresh scent that I absolutely love!
It absorbs so quickly and leaves my hands feeling like they did years before I got this icky skin condition.
I honestly can not praise this product enough and it is currently in store under a sale price of £3.50 for 100ml! Absolute gold star Find!
I have heard rumours that then plan to discontinue this product so grab it while you can!
